Few day back few of our students submitted their thesis report, few of them published in IOSR Journal, as per the rule we asked them to submitted details about journal.
We were shocked to see the reports, these were all fake.
IOSR Journal - indexing is totally fake, there are no clues of indexing on NASA, CitRef and various other as shown own website.
It seemsIOSR Journal a new india journal and within one year they are showing statistics of Citation reports. We checked the statistics these were all fake, within one year, they are showing false citation statistics.
IOSR Journal - they are showing chief edition for each journal edition. But as per our investigation all these editors name shown for each journal are fake.
Dr. Edward Thomas, USA
Dr. Smith Williams, USA
Dr. Aailyah ferreira, South Africa
Dr. Ugur Cakilcioglu, china
Dr. Shamhul Gazly, Bangladesh and so many other names are also fake.
We don't all allow author sto publish and submit the reports in university for such kind of journals.
No Journal should provide such kind of false reports.
Sir how can we check the authenticity of a journal ? Could you suggest a few good mechanical engineering journals ?
ReplyDeleteI have checked in UGC list. Most of IOSR Journals are under UGC. UGC is not fake. So i think IOSR Journals are best Journals. It is also indexed in Cross Ref (DOI). I verified that.

IOSR is totally fake bogus journal, I also mailed NASA admin "Dr. Stephen S. Murray " they already banned this fake predatory journal. Other details also checked this journal operate from Noida , Ghaziabad, India region. Within one year all of a sudden they started showing fake impact factors for their journals. so beware guys from this fake journal
ReplyDeleteYou are absolutely right professor, this IOSR journal is totally fake journal, cheating students for money and they have lot of journals for different price range, if one is unable to pay high amount then another low cost in series around 10-15 fake journals posted by same person .
ReplyDeletehttp://fake-indian-journals.blogspot.in/2014/07/iosr-fake-journal-banned-by-nasa.html
Don't recommend this fake iosr journal for any kind of publication.

DeleteJournal is an entirely new thing for Indian scholars. They are not aware and have very less knowledge about publication in Journals. Journals like IOSR and several others make profit out of this unawareness. I have heard many Indian professors saying , a journal with ISSN means it is an International Journal. But the truth is If a periodical/journal has been assigned with ISSN it does not mean it is an International publication. ISSN is a number that identifies periodicals worldwide, whether in printed form or other media (including online). It does not denotes the level of coverage, connectivity and circulation of the journal. A list of major international journals around the world is available on E-journals.org.which is the most honored and trusted source which dates back to Tim Berners-Lee (inventor of the World Wide Web). There are some other lists also. Please do not submit papers to the Fake journals that Charge Publication- Processing and other charges. It is very easy to pay, get published and become a published fake scientist through these fake journals. In my opinion, genuine journals are those which are recognized by the leading universities of the world like University of Oxford- Cambridge- Harvard. Submit your research papers only to genuine Journals.

DeleteI have gone through the site and I saw that "they send the hard copy of acceptance certificate to all authors within 10 days of publication, which is free of cost by International Organization of Scientific Research (IOSR).".. My question is if it is a fake journal then how can they do that..and one of my friend has send her paper in iosr , she paid the amount and her paper was published also, even people can download it from there....if it is a fake journal then how can the publication is possible..
ReplyDeleteI was just sent an article from IOSR Journal that purposed to prove π is equal to (14-sqrt(2))/2. So yes, fake.
ReplyDeleteLOL....

I published my paper related to microelectronics in IOSR Journal. It get published and indexed in CrossRef and NASA ads. I also got my Phd foom UGC on the basis of my IOSR published paper. So It is good Journal.
ReplyDeleteJust found out that there are some papers from IOSR journal on NASA ADS system doesn't this proves its not fake, just check out the site below and let me know since i don't know how to check if the journal is fake or not.

I published my paper. It's a good journal.. it's not fake
ReplyDeleteI think the whole issue on publication has been misdirected. It is not where you published your paper but the content of the paper the matter most. If Einstein published his paper in IOSR journal, will that make his paper rubbish?
ReplyDeleteI have checked in UGC list. Most of IOSR Journals are under UGC. UGC is not fake. So i think IOSR Journals are best Journals. It is also indexed in Cross Ref (DOI). I verified that.
DeleteI think bin Ramli has kind of resolved this argument. It is what I have always told people. the purpose of the journal is to disseminate knowledge. The purpose of academic industry is to keep refining knowledge. If a finding reported in a journal is not true, a good scholar ought to reply in a similar manner by reporting better findings, not castigating the publisher. There are a lot of genuine high level research papers published in IOSR journals and people are using them to advance knowledge. I starting to think that this argument about predatory journals is a conspiracy to curtail the spread of useful knowledge to poor country

I'm checking all Indexing one by one.
That a journal requires you to pay processing fees is not proof that it is fake. How come there are very reputable journals that also ask for payment for one to download their articles. Some of the so-called good journals take several months for an article to be reviewed. IOSR Journals review articles by specific timelines and if they accept articles, they public by timelines as well.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely true

ReplyDeleteLet the publishers of journals (academic) article in developing countries improve on their peer review mechanism and that will silence the "conspiracy theory" against them from western world
ReplyDeleteAs per my best knowledge, IOSR Journals are best Journal. I published my article. It is accepted for P.hd.
